MINNESOTA – Educators across the state are looking forward to the annual MEA weekend, which will be their last chance to go on 4-day long drinking benders until at least Thanksgiving. “I plan on waking up tomorrow and starting out with a couple cocktails,” said Jeff Hedges, a history teacher at Roseville Middle School, “The trick is to pace yourself. Don’t want to burn out on day one.” As parents plan for family activities during the long weekend, teachers are stocking up on booze and frozen pizzas. “You really don’t want to run out of supplies,” Hedges continued, “God only knows what will happen if I try to leave the house in the condition I’ll be in.”
