LAKE ELORA, NORTHWOODS – In a charming display of alliteration, DNR Supervisor Carrol Henderson warned of the shrinking loon population in Minnesota. “Lake Elora is losing lovely loons, and soon we’ll have fewer loons landing on all our lakes,” Henderson said. “Loons are leaving for better living locations, and for longer lapses. I lament this loss as I like loons more than larks.” The National Audubon Society confirmed Henderson’s assessment, but failed to repeat consonant sounds in their wording in an amusing or satisfying fashion.
